Meme a word came from “minime “of Greek coined by a famous Ethologist Richard Dawkins. Nowadays we all are familiar about this word as all our Social Medias has been filled with it. Generations are changing, opinions are changing and so do memes .Is meme being encouraging or a troll?- Is a question all youngsters should aware about.

The first meme was posted by tumbler in 1921 .Coming from 1921 to 2020,Memes have created a rapid transformation in media field .Today meme has been the whole world’s laughing medium .It is said “Making someone  laugh is so much harder than to make them cry “.And we all agree with this statement .But today’s memes has been a troll way path creating pessimistic environment on social media.

These days’ youngsters are searching for new topics and contents. Some are creating their own and some are following. Some are posting well, while some are influenced by bad. People are fighting over it. The good ones are being affected by the bad .We don’t hesitate bullying others .There is no love, respect, understanding and sense. We are  losing humanity .The founder may have thought it’s going to be an entertainment  and fun source but creating an environment in social media by harassing someone’s character ,fame just for the sake of entertainment .’Is it ok ?’  Do we ever thought about it? – I guess we’ve not .We funnily react while someone gets trolled, when same thing happens to us, we humiliate them .What are we living for? Do we ever asked to ourselves ? We are still fighting for attentions and fame .Why it’s necessary for us to be advocated with it? Why don’t we encourage for right things? Hundreds of questions but the answer is ‘We ‘ourselves.

We are seeing troll from a little baby to celebrity to old aged peoples. Mainly singer ,actress and people regarding entertainment field are more likely suffer  through it .Nepali actresses like Aanchal sharma ,Namrata Shrestha ,Anjali Adhikari  and so many others are facing numerous problems  due to these  trolls. Day to Day memes of theirs’ gets on trending in social media but who is standing for them? Only few. As in this pandemic time, whole nation is conquering for COVID-19, there’s another controversy going around of our land lipulekh and Kalapani .Many supportive memes are created on the behalf of our land .In other hand our well known actress of Nepal Barsa Raut was criticized for not supporting of our land rather than thinking of  own fame. She has been trolled for so long and is trolled till now .Although she has already apologized for her fault .But the way people are making memes about her is out of imagination. She is also a human .Can’t she makes mistakes? We are disrespecting a woman of our own who contributed for our nation .Where is our norms and values? What are we doing this for? For our society? For our Country? Well, Its Not. We are doing it just for fame. On the one hand we say about women empowerment on other  hand we are disrespecting a woman .They are humans, they make mistakes and so they will apologize for it. When they make mistakes it’s our duty to correct and evaluate them rather than throwing dust in their dignity.

The meme founder Richard Dawkins said “It’s just elaborated idea or a scientific hypothesis carried for fun”.But the way we are taking fun ,are we encouraging people or demoralizing? Are we human being or a demon? Let’s think about it. Are we doing right? Are we giving this lesson to our Younger? No, we shouldn’t. If we want fun in memes, create your own right way than following others .But we can’t hurt someone’s feeling, emotions and dignity just for the sake of fun .We don’t have that right.

Many people are choosing creative content, topics on global warming, afforestation, climate change, COVID-19 etc.  They are posting so optimistic views .Why don’t we encourage them? Why don’t we create like this? Memes are gift for social media, if utilized effectively considering values, rules and paths .So why don’t we think of changing society? How about giving a little time to consider about it? It’s all way right, if we consider it our friends, family, colleagues will also consider.
